The foundation for the modern industrial revolution was laid around 1800 by the Englishman Sir Henry Bessemer. He developed the first process to produce steel inexpensively in mass production. Nearly a hundred years later, it suddenly became possible to produce thousands of plastic parts in a very short time due to the invention of thermoplastic materials. In the 21st century, researchers at the California Institute of Technology achieved another milestone: a liquid metal that can be applied and worked seamlessly on wood composite surfaces, suitable for putty and painting.
The real metal is solvent-free, non-toxic, and UV-resistant. The surface can be sanded, polished, or oxidized according to your preference and can be embossed with various patterns.
The liquid metals are available in aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, gold, iron, and platinum. Thanks to our unique laser technology and creative experts, design knows no bounds.
You can see some examples of metal surface finishing in our collections ‘Natural Patterns’ and ‘Bas Relief,’ which can be found in our Materials & Surfaces category under ‘Creative Surfaces.’
Or, below, you can see a selection of precious metals available for your own design ideas (also in combination with our laser technology).
Feel free to call us or write to us anytime if you’d like to discuss a custom project.
